Docksiders Grabs 3 All-Around Titles at

Maryland Classic Competition

 

Docksiders entire team program competed at the Maryland Classic competition over Martin Luther King weekend.  The local competition took place at the PG Sports& Learning Center in Landover, Maryland.  At the conclusion of the four-day meet Docksiders Gymnasts had claimed 3 All-Around Titles.  Several of the girls also earned top 3 Team finishes and loads of individual awards.

Winning the All-Around in the Level 4 division was Audrey Hofmann.  This was Audrey’s second All-Around Champion title this season, and she earned her highest score yet with a total of 36.45.  She also took 1st place on both Uneven Bars with a 9.425 and Balance Beam with a 9.30.  In the same age group Lilly Echeverria placed 3rd in the All-Around with a 35.925 and 2nd place on Balance Beam with a 9.05.  Also, Docksider Sara Norton placed 2nd on Floor Exercise with a 9.175.  In the 8 year old age group Jenna Musselman took 2nd place on Vault with a 9.45 and Sophie Hofmann also scored well on Vault taking 3rd place with a 9.375.  In the 6/7 year old age group Niya Torres earned Champion status by winning Uneven Bars with an 8.80.  She took 3rd place on Vault with an 8.90 and also in the All-Around with a 32.90.  Adelina Rodriquez took the title on Vault with a 9.20 and a couple of 3rd’s as well on both Balance Beam with a 7.55 and Floor Exercise with an 8.0.  Alaina Ashbeck, who was our oldest Level 4 Competitor at 10 years old, placed 3rd on Uneven Bars with a nice score of 9.25.  The Level 4 team took 2nd place in the Team Competition.  Also competing for the team award were Paige Doyle, Marisa Gatson, and Sydney Gilman.

In the Level 5 competition Ronni Binstock took 2nd All-Around in the 8 year old age group with a 35.70.  She also took 3rd place on Uneven Bars and 3rd place on Floor Exercise with 9.15 on both events.  In the 9 year old age group Meghan McKenna placed 3rd overall with a 36.25, and she earned champion status for her Uneven Bar routine which scored a 9.55.  In the 10 year old age group Nina Agafonovas took 1st place on Uneven Bars with a 9.50 while her twin sister Angeligue placed 3rd on floor exercise with a 9.125.  Also for Docksiders Karsyn Modeski took 1st on Floor Exercise with a 9.175, Rachel Ward took 3rd on Uneven Bars with a 9.275, and Ashley Diekemper took 3rd on Balance Beam with a 9.175.

In the Level 7 competition Carolyn Bailey placed 2nd on Vault with a 9.20.  In Level 8 Leah Dunn placed 3rd on Uneven Bars with a high score of 9.525.

Winning the All-Around at Level 9 in the Junior competition was Emily Bowen with a 36.725.  She took 1st on Floor Exercise with a 9.35, 2nd on both Uneven Bars, with a 9.275, and Balance Beam with a 9.15, and 3rd place on Vault with an 8.95.  In the Senior Age group Amanda Castle took the All-Around Champion title with a 36.125.  She also won Balance Beam with a 9.15, took 2nd on both Uneven Bars, with a 9.15, and floor Exercise with an 8.975, and placed 3rd on Vault with an 8.85.  Also in the Senior age group for Docksiders Monica Durham took 1st on both Vault and Uneven Bars with scores of 8.95 and 9.50 respectively.  She placed 3rd on Balance Beam with an 8.75 and finished 2nd in the All-Around with a 35.65.  The team placed 3rd overall in the team competition.  Noelle DeCesare and Chelcie Rosborough also contributed to the team score.

The Docksiders Level 10 Team placed well taking 3rd in a difficult field of top teams.  In the Senior Age group Toi Garcia, who recently signed for a full Athletic Scholarship with Auburn University, placed 3rd in the All-Around with a 37.30.  She took 2nd place on Uneven Bars with a 9.425 and 3rd place on both Vault, with a 9.575, and Floor Exercise with a 9.45.  Rachel Fincham took 1st place on Uneven Bars with a high score of 9.60.  In the Junior Age group Betsy Zander placed 3rd in the All-Around with a 35.90.  She also placed 2nd on Floor Exercise with a 9.30 and 3rd on both Vault, with a 9.10, and Uneven Bars with an 8.85.  Also in the Junior age group Brianna Guy placed 2nd on Uneven Bars with a 9.40.  Also contributing to the team place were Alexis Gross and Jenna White.

The following Level 9 and 10’s qualified to Event Finals on Sunday; Rachel Fincham, Toi Garcia, Alexis Gross, Betsy Zander, Brianna Guy, Emily Bowen, Amanda Castle and Moncia Durham.  Congratulations girls!
