Docksiders Shine at the

Christmas on the Chesapeake Competition!

 

    Docksiders hosted their 21st Christmas on the Chesapeake gymnastics competition in Baltimore Maryland just two weeks before the Christmas holidays.  The meet was held at the Baltimore Convention Center and featured over 1700 gymnasts from all over the East Coast.  Docksiders walked away with awards and smiles aplenty.  At the end of the 3 day weekend of competition Docksiders boasted 4 All-Around Champions and numerous individual medals won.  The COTC All-Around Champions from Docksiders were Alexis Gross at Level 10, Amanda Castle and Emily Bowen for the Jr. & Sr. divisions at Level 9, and Audrey Hofmann who captured the Level 4 All Around.

    In the Level 10 Session the Docksiders team took 3rd place in a difficult competition.  Alexis Gross nearly swept the Champion titles in the Jr. B age group taking 1st on Vault with a 9.25, Uneven Bars with a 9.35, Beam with a 9.0, and the All-Around with a 36.05.  She finished her competition for the night with a 3rd place performance on Floor Exercise that earned her an 8.45.  In the Sr. A age group Chelsea Perna took 1st on both Vault, with a 9.5, and Balance Beam with a 9.375.  She earned 2nd place on Uneven Bars with a 9.40 and also in the All-Around with a total score of 37.225.  In the same age group her Docksiders teammate Betsy Zander put together three 3rd place routines.  The first came on Uneven Bars where she scored a 9.10 and she followed up with a 9.30 on Floor Exercise and a 36.45 in the All-Around.  Toi Garcia, who competed in the Sr. B Age group, only competed on two events due to injury.  She placed 3rd on Uneven Bars with a 9.40.  Also contributing to the 3rd place team win was Jenna White.

    The Docksiders Level 9 team also took 3rd in the Team Competition.  Their two All-Around Champions contributed to the win.  Emily Bowen took 1st in the All-Around in the Jr. Age group with a total score of 36.025, 2nd on Balance Beam with a 9.30, and 3rd on Uneven Bars with an 8.875.  In the same age group Noelle DeCesare took 2nd place on Vault with an 8.875.  Their Docksider teammate Amanda Castle took top honors in the Sr. A Age group with a 35.375.  This was her first All-Around win at Level 9.  She also took champion titles on both Uneven Bars with an 8.80 and Floor Exercise with an 8.95.  Amanda took 2nd on both the remaining events, Vault with an 8.775 and Balance Beam with an 8.85.  Also in this age group Chelcie Rosborough of Docksiders took 1st on Vault with an 8.95 and also on Balance Beam with a 9.10.  She placed 3rd on the Uneven Bars with an 8.075 and 2nd in the All-Around with a 34.525.  In the Sr. B age group Monica Durham took the Uneven Bars title with an 8.475 and won 2nd on Vault with an 8.825, 3rd on Balance Beam with an 8.35, and 2nd in the All-Around with a 33.65.  Assisting the team in the 3rd place finish was Alex Zois. 

    At Level 7 & 8 several Docksider girls had standout performances.  Leah Dunn took 1st on Uneven Bars with a 9.30.  Jenna Martin took three 2nd place awards, on Vault with a 9.10, on Balance Beam with an 8.75, and in the All-Around with a 35.75.  Their teammate Julia Gielen placed 3rd on Vault with a 9.05.  Shelby Atwood took two 3rd place finishes.  The first came on Balance Beam where she scored an 8.55, and then on Floor Exercise with a 9.15.  In Level 7 Carolyn Bailey placed 3rd on Vault with a 9.325.

    At Level 6 Alex Swann-White captured 3rd place on Uneven Bars with an 8.65 and at Level 5 the highest achiever was Docksiders newcomer Angelique Agafonovas.  Angie took the Champion title on Floor Exercise with a 9.20, 2nd place on Uneven Bars with a 9.35, and 3rd in the All-Around with a 35.45.  Also at Level 5, Ronni Binstock took 3rd place on Vault with an 8.65 and Meghan McKenna took 3rd place on Floor Exercise with a 9.15.  In a different age group Karsyn Modeski took 3rd place on Floor Exercise as well with a 9.05.

    Our Level 4 team took home tons of awards in what was for most of the girls only their second ever competition.  In the 8 year old age division Audrey Hofmann won her first ever All-Around Champion title with a high score of 36.45.  She also placed 1st on both Uneven Bars with a 9.30 and on Balance Beam with a 9.15.  In the same age group Sara Norton took the Champion title for Floor Exercise with a 9.05 and 3rd place on Vault with a 9.10.  Lilly Echeverria placed 2nd on both Vault with a 9.325 and Uneven Bars with a 9.10.  She took 3rd over all with a combined score of 35.775.  In the 6 & 7 year old age division, Sophie Hofmann took top honors for Docksiders by placing 2nd in the All-around with a 35.70.  She also took 2nd on Uneven Bars with a 9.0 and 3rd on both Floor Exercise, with an 8.95, and Balance Beam with an 8.75.  Also in this age group Sydney Gilman finished 3rd on Vault with a 9.20 and Jenna Musselman took 3rd on Uneven Bars with an 8.95.  In the 9 year old age group Alaina Ashbeck took home a 2nd place medal for vault with a score of 9.20 and 3rd on Uneven Bars with an 8.95.
