Docksiders Newest Program Starts with Titles

 

 

          The Docksiders Mason Dixon Gymnastics Team kicked off their season with its first ever meet on January 12-13 at Columbia Gymnastics.  This new program is designed for gymnasts looking for lower demands than the USA Gymnastics program.  The time commitment, the skill requirements, and the rules are less strict for Mason Dixon competitors while the program still offers lots of flipping and fun.

 

Several gymnasts shined for Docksiders at this competition, but none brighter than Sarah Dyckman.  Sarah scored a 36.25 to capture the All-Around title in the C level group.  Her scores included 9.4’s or higher on 3 events, and she placed 1^st on bars, 2^nd on floor, and 3^rd on both beam and vault.

 

          Also in the C division, Rebecca Jones placed 1^st on two events. She scored a 9.55 on beam and a 9.45 on floor to lead a Docksiders 1-2-3 sweep on Floor Exercise with Docksiders Sarah Dyckman 2^nd and Kristina Clevinger coming in 3^rd, all three scoring over a 9.30 for the event.

 

          Kristina Clevinger also took top honors on vault, where Dyckman, Jones, and Hillary Timms all tied for 3^rd.  Timms also came in 2^nd on the Uneven Bars.

 

          In the B division Sarah Orlich led the way for Docksiders with a 35.4 to capture 2^nd place in the All-Around.  Her day included her first ever 9’s on beam and floor, which put her in 3^rd place on each event.

 

Other Docksider highlights included Jessie Kuhlman taking home the vault title in her division, and also placing 2^nd on bars and 3^rd in the All- Around.  The 12 year olds were led by Haley Wilson’s 3^rd place finish on floor and Courtney Rogers 3^rd place finish on beam.
