Docksider Ouellette Wins Regional All-Around

Title, 7 Girls Make it to Nationals!

 

Docksiders Level 10 gymnasts competed at the Region 7 Championships in Newport News, Virginia on April 26^th & 27^th.  The Regional Championships include the best club gymnasts from Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.  When the gymnasts perform at Regionals it is no longer a team competition, each gymnast is competing to earn an individual spot on a team heading to Junior Olympic Nationals.  The top 7 All-Around places in each age division earn a spot on the JO National Team, and the 8^th and 9^th place finishers are named as alternates.  Docksiders had their best performance ever at 2008 Regional Competition with 7 girls earning a trip to JO Nationals.  This is the most we have ever had going to JO’s in the same year!  Stephanie Ouellette walked away as the Junior D Regional All-Around Champion with a score of 37.30.  There were also several other individual honors won by Docksider gymnasts over the weekend.

In Addition to her first Regional All-Around win, Stephanie took 3^rd place on both Balance Beam, with a 9.30, and Floor Exercise with a 9.45.  Also in the Junior D age group Rachel Fincham took 3^rd All-Around with a 37.25, and 2^nd on Uneven Bars with a 9.575.

In the Junior B age group Brianna Guy put in another top performance earning Regional Champion status on both Balance Beam with a 9.50 and Floor Exercise with a 9.675.  Her combined total put her in 3^rd place in the All-Around with a 37.35.  In the Junior C age group Chelsea Perna took the Vault Champion title with a high score of 9.60.  She placed 2^nd on Floor Exercise and also earned 2^nd for her All-Around score of 37.325.  Also for Docksiders Alexis Gross placed 2^nd on Uneven Bars with a 9.35 and squeaked into 7^th place in the All-Around with a 36.25.

In the Senior A Competition Toi Garcia had the meet of her life scoring her highest All-Around ever with a 37.825.  The high score put her in 5^th in the All-Around and earned her a spot on the Regional Team.  She also placed 3^rd on Floor Exercise with a 9.625.  Competing in the Senior D age group Lilly Siems was named Uneven Bar Champion with the high score of 9.575.  She placed 6^th All-Around with a 36.775.
