Docksiders’ Level 10 Team Takes 3^rd Place in Cancun

Docksiders Gymnastics sent a delegation of 12 Level 10 gymnasts to Cancun, Mexico to compete in the Cancun Classic on January 4-7, 2007.  The Docksiders group competed on Saturday and earned a 3^rd place finish in the team competition.  The beaches were beautiful, the weather was 85 and breezy, and the team had many adventures while visiting Cancun for their first international trip.

Docksiders had several outstanding performances in the individual events to add to their strong team finish.  Brianna Guy wowed the crowd with her high flying skills and presentation.  She placed 2^nd All Around in the Jr. A Division with the awesome score of 37.15.  She also placed 2^nd on Vault with a score of 9.40, Beam with a 9.30, and Floor Exercise with a 9.25.  Also taking individual awards in the Jr. A division were Krystal Welsh who scored 9.35 on Vault for a 3^rd place finish and Courtney Shelsby, who placed 2^nd on Uneven Bars with a 9.325.  In the Jr. B Division Toi Garcia showed them how it is done on vault, and scored a 9.55 to earn herself a 3^rd place finish.  She also placed 3^rd on Uneven Bars with a score of 9.25 and 2^nd on Floor Exercise with a score of 9.325.  Also competing for the team were Lilly Siems, Alexis Gross, Betsy Zander, Sarah Meiklejohn, Melanie Brother, Rachel Fincham, and Heather Atwood.  2006 National Competitor Stephanie Ouellette was unable to compete due to an injury she sustained in training, but was there to support her teammates and assist the coaches.
