Docksiders Level 10’s Win in Boston

     The Docksiders Level 9 and 10 Teams traveled to Boston on Jan. 13th-15th to participate in the Brestyan's American Invitational.  The Level 10 team took first place in the top level competition beating the home team, Brestyan's Gymnastics, the home to National Team Member Alicia Sacramone.  The final score was Docksiders 112.10 to Brestyan's 111.625.  Docksiders Stephanie Ouellette from Elkridge, Maryland walked away with the Junior A All Around title and the Overall All Around competition title with the high score of 37.175 as well as 1st place on the Uneven Bars with a score of 9.25.  Stephanie is a 3 year veteran of Level 10 competitions and is in the 8th grade at Elkridge Landing Middle School.  Severna Park native Toi Garcia won the Junior B age group with a score of 36.075.  Toi is a freshman at Severn School.  Teammate Krystal Welsh from Bowie, Maryland scored an amazing 9.70 on the Balance Beam, taking 1st on that event in the Junior A age group.  Krystal is in the 7th grade at Grace Christian School.  Rachel Fincham from Gambrills, Maryland took 1st place on Uneven Bars in the Junior B age group with a 9.20.  Other team members helping to secure the Level 10 victory were Brianna Guy, Hannah Raley, and Melanie Brother.

     The Level 9 team came in 2nd place in the competition with a 110.35.  They were narrowly beat by the home team, Brestyan's, who scored 111.075.  Jenna White of Odenton, Maryland won the Senior A age group with the score of 35.40, and also placed 1st on Floor Exercise with a 9.15.  Jenna is a freshman at Arundel High School.  Alexis Gross placed 1st on Balance Beam in the Level 9 Junior A division posting an awesome 9.425.  Rounding out the Level 9 team competition were Courtney Shelsby, Betsy Zander, Heather Atwood, Lilly Siems, Kayla Della, and Sarah Meiklejohn.

     The next stop on the competition circuit for the Docksiders teams is the Parkettes Invitational in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  Several of the ladies will participate in the televised round on Saturday evening, Jan. 28th.  For updated information on the Docksiders Teams visit www.docksidersgymnastics.com.
