Docksiders Level 10’s Win Vegas Cup!!

 

 

The Docksiders Level 10 team from Millersville, Maryland put together an awesome performance for the Vegas Cup on February 4^th and walked away Team Champions.  The 7 gymnasts with their two coaches, Bob Ouellette and John Barrows, traveled to Las Vegas on Thursday February 2^nd.  They spent all day Friday sightseeing.  They visited the Hoover Dam, the M & M and Coke factories, and the Stratosphere Tower.  The Stratosphere stands at 1,149 feet and is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States.  The gymnasts all rode the three "thrill seekers" rides at the Stratosphere Tower.  The XScream, Big Shot, and Insanity had them all screaming to the top of their lungs.  After a long day of sightseeing, and a good nights rest, it was time to get themselves ready for the business part of the trip, the competition!  They went in to win, and that is exactly what they did!  At the conclusion of the meet the Team score was a 111.275.  The Level 10’s won over Universal Gymnastics, who had a 110.825, and the home team Gym Cats who placed 3^rd with a 108.275.

 

The Docksiders did equally well with individual placing.  Stephanie Ouellette put in an awesome performance and took the All - Around title in her age group with a score of 37.025.  This win was her third All - Around title since December.  She also placed 2^nd on Bars with a 9.225 and 2^nd on Beam with a 9.40.  Toi Garcia had an incredible meet scoring 36.75 for a 2^nd place All - Around finish in the 14-15 year old age group.  She also took 1^st on Bars with a 9.425, 1^st on Floor with a 9.55, and 2^nd on Vault with a 9.575.  The crowd is probably still talking about her stunning floor routine.  Brianna Guy brought home 1^st place on Bars in her age group with a 9.25, just edging out team mate Stephanie Ouellette for the title of Bar Champion.  Krystal Welsh dazzled the judges and the crowd on beam with a near perfect performance that won her the Beam Champion title with a 9.50.  Completing the winning team were Rachel Fincham, Melanie Brother, and Hannah Raley.
