Docksiders Level 5 & 6 Teams Win

Gold at Mardi Gras Magic

 



     Docksiders’ compulsory teams traveled to Grasonville, Maryland on Sunday, February 26 to compete in the Mardi Gras Magic meet hosted by Island Gymnastics.  Both Docksiders teams brought back 1st place trophys from the team competition.  The level 5’s scored 102.475 and the level 6’s earned a season high score of 106.525.  Barlow’s Gymnastics took 2nd and Island Gymnastics placed 3rd in both competitions.

     For the Level 5 team, Corinne McCrary performed a beautiful Balance Beam routine that received the 1st place award with an 8.9.  Corrine had a slip on bars, but she pulled it together to end up with an 8.45 for 2nd place.  She also won second place on Floor Exercise and 1st place in the All Around competition with a 33.5.  Her team mate Emma Staisloff shined bright on Uneven Bars and received 1st place with a 9.05.  Emma also won 1st place on Vault and 3rd place on Floor Exercise.  She scored a 33.7 All Around and took home the 2nd place trophy.  First year competitor Jessi Kuhlman stepped it up in this competition and took 1st place on both Uneven Bars and Vault.  She scored her all time high on Bars with a 9.125.  Another talented Docksider, Taylor Oliver, showed off her dance on Floor Exercise and received 1st place with an 8.6.  Taylor also won 3rd place on Uneven Bars with an 8.55.  Grace Hulsey won the 2nd place award for Uneven Bars with an 8.55 and also took home the 3rd place award for her Vault.  Veteran competitor Kasey Henson scored an 8.15 on Vault for 2nd place, and KerryAnne Stolcenberg showed off her great form on Balance Beam to receive an 8.5 and win 3rd place.  Also helping the Level 5 victory in the team competition were Julia Brouillete, Devin Gromen, Allyson Lesher, Melissa Shelley, Chesney Ward, and Julie Yarborough.

     In the Level 6 competition Samantha Calderone won her age group with a total score of 33.475.  She also took 1st on Vault with a 9.25 and 3rd on Floor Exercise with an 8.65.  Carolyn Bailey put in a solid performance and walked away with 1st Place on Vault with a 9.275, 1st Place on Uneven Bars with an 8.60, and 1st Place on Floor Exercise with the high score of 9.30.  At the end of the meet Carolyn ended up with 2nd All Around with a score of 35.525.  Also in the All Around were Madeline Pequingney, with a 32.85, and Alexandra Zois with a 35.35.  Both placed 3rd All Around in different age groups.  Madeline placed 3rd on Vault with an 8.60, 1st on Uneven Bars with a 7.9, and 3rd on Balance Beam with an 8.40.  Alexandra took 2nd on Uneven Bars with an 8.45 and 2nd on Balance Beam with a 9.025.  Other individual victories include Julie Kuhlman’s 3rd place finish on Uneven Bars with a 7.65, Hillary McSheehy’s 2nd Place finish on Balance Beam with an 8.60, Hope Sherman’s 3rd Place finish on Vault with a 9.0, and Sarah Taylor's 3rd Place finish on both Uneven Bars, with an 8.45, and Balance Beam with an 8.95.  Completing the team were Shelby Atwood, Danielle Duret, Olivia Gruver, Katie Korvin, and Lauren Musselman.
