Naval
Academy Gymnast Puts on Exhibition for Docksiders Boys Team
Docksiders Boys Level 4 team members got a chance to watch a
Naval Academy gymnast perform a few of his routines during their Saturday
practice in mid January.
Christopher Tam demonstrated his floor, pommel horse, and still rings routines
for the new Docksiders competitors. The Naval Academy sophomore also watched the
Level 4 boys train, gave them pointers, and answered many of their questions.
That is so cool, said Gregory Torcaso, one of Docksiders young gymnasts, as
he watched Tam flip through the air. I cant wait until I can do that.
The 20-year-old Utah native garnered All-America recognition last year after finishing fifth all-around at the USA Collegiate Championship with a 50.525.
These guys are so much fun to watch, Tam said as he observed the boys
practicing their parallel bar routines. They have so much promise and its such
an exciting time for them.
Boys Level 4 coaches Charlie Muth and Will Kool were thrilled when Tam agreed to
come to Docksiders, talk with the boys, and perform his routines.
By watching Chris the boys can see what a top-notch gymnast can do, Muth
said. He also took the time to talk about his training. The boys had an
opportunity to see what can be accomplished if they train hard and stick with
the sport.
Several of the boys said they were going to ask their parents to take them to
one of the Naval Academy home meets this season.
