Docksiders Pride at Nationals!!
 

     Docksiders Level 9’s and 10’s finished up the season in style by representing Region 7 at national level competitions. Five Level 9 Gymnasts, Heather Atwood, Kayla Della, Sarah Meiklejohn, Jenna White, and Betsy Zander, all traveled to Nashville, Tennessee for the Eastern National Gymnastics competition held April 21st – 23rd. The competition boasts the top Level 9 gymnasts from the East Coast. Two Level 10 gymnasts, Stephanie Ouellette and Toi Garcia, traveled to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the Level 10 Junior Olympic Nationals held April 29th - 30th. This huge competition showcases the top 56 girls in each age group from all across the United States. When the chalk had settled in both Tennessee and Oklahoma several Docksiders walked away with honors.

     In Tennessee Level 9 Betsy Zander put together a stunning performance which earned her a 7th place finish in the Junior B age group with an All-Around score of 36.80. She also took 5th place on Bars with a 9.375 and 9th place on Floor Exercise with a 9.275 with her bouncy floor routine to an old tune, “School Days”. Betsy was also the 2006 State Uneven Bar Champion. In the Senior B age group Sarah Meiklejohn placed 5th on Floor Exercise with a 9.30 with her floor routine to a Van Halen oldie which was full of double flipping passes. Sarah was also the 2006 Level 9 State All-Around Champion and the 2006 State Balance Beam Champion.      In Oklahoma Level 10 Stephanie Ouellette put together another incredible performance. She hit all four routines for the highest All-Around score of her career with a total of 37.45. She finished up in 6th place All-Around in the Junior B age group. Stephanie also placed 7th on Balance Beam, with a solid routine scoring 9.425, and 9th place on Bars with a 9.40. This was a perfect finish to her awesome 2006 season which included titles such as Level 10 State All-Around Champion, State Uneven Bar Champion, and Regional Balance Beam Champion.
